normal life, sort of

Hi Reader,

Welcome! Please, come in. Make yourself comfortable. On the table, I've put a pint glass with bugleweed and butterweed blooms. They'll take over your garden if you don't get them out—especially the butterweed. But they're cheery for all that.

As the Defy the Gods Kickstarter continues, life here has returned to normal. Sort of. There's a rhythm. I'm posting to social media every day about Defy the Gods, which is its own kind of discipline/fun. I get to share details from the amazing art (like the attached).

Other folks are talking up Defy the Gods too:

  • Hessan Yongdi goes in-depth about it on TTRPG Talk.
  • I had a wonderful interview with Arwen Kathke on Cardboard Time. We dug into the themes of the game and what we as queer people get out of TTRPGs.
  • I ran a world-building session with Tony Vasinda, Sarah Frank, and Richard Ruane of Plus One Exp—lovely people. We made adventurers and the World Forces, including an unhinged Pantheon and City, and we played out an initial World Scene as the City's ruling council. Our adventure continues May 14th, with two more sessions after that.

More in the pipeline! I'll tell you all about it when it drops.

Basically, I'm in a sword & sorcery state of mind all the time. Part of my brain has moved to ancient Sumer, and I'm here for it. It's just normal now.

Cheers,
Chrys

P.S. Defy the Gods' sister project, Wandering Blades, is also crowdfunding. If you like wuxia swordplay and melodrama, you'll love this game.

P.P.S. Origins is coming up fast! Hope to see you there!

P.P.P.S. In the unlikely event that you haven't backed Defy the Gods yet, there's still time! :)

Hi Reader, Welcome! Please, come in, into the A/C. On the table, I've put bunches of honeysuckle in a jam jar. We used to pull the flowers apart and suck the juice from them. Today, in the most Raccoon Sky Pirates result possible, the ship carrying the Raccoon Sky Pirates Kickstarter exploded before making it halfway to its destination. That is, I canceled the campaign. s.If you backed it, thank you! And I'm sorry I had to cancel. If you didn't back it, no worries. I'll retool and come back...

the back end of a cadillac strains to take flight, giving off lightning bolts and held to the ground by one taut bungie cord. A raccoon reaches out of the trunk to release the cord.

Hi Reader, Welcome! Please, come in. I put stalks of crown-pink in a jar on the table. If you can see them. Don't mind the smoke. The raccoons are in the back yard, getting their ship together. Tomorrow morning at 9 am Eastern, the Kickstarter for Raccoon Sky Pirates: Total Chaos Edition will finally launch. I made a hilarious video for it. I can't post it here, because it's too big. But you can see it on the Kickstarter page tomorrow morning. Yuri Lowenthal, the voice of Spider-Man, narrated...

Hi Reader, Whew! What a time it's been since we last got together. Unconscionably, I swiped a stalk of Lady's Gloves from a neighbor's hellstrip and put them in a milk bottle on the table. They look magical, but it's still theft. If you've been following along, you may think the Raccoon Sky Pirates Kickstarter should have launched by now. Yesterday, even. But a Kickstarter is always more work than I remember, and let's be fair, I was pushing too hard in not enough time. So now the Dumpster...
