Hi Reader, Welcome! Please, come in. Do you like the pantsuit? I got it at Ross. I'm glad you're here—you're just in time for a big announcement. Roll that podium over here, would you dear? In an effort to capitalize on market synergies, Hectic Electron is excited to announce two new games in our line-up: Defy the Raccoons and Queer Sky Pirates. The first one out the gate is Defy the Raccoons. In this game, inspired by Over the Hedge and the sensational, straight-to-video Wrath of the Titans (2012), you play homeowners in ancient Sumer staving off an invasion of gargantuan raccoons. Fight to protect your precious possessions—including clay pots and other, larger clay pots—as the raccoons rampage across your city-state. Win with swords and sorcery right up until the raccoons learn swords and sorcery of their own. Then shit gets real. In order to meet demand while it exists, we're rushing these through the pipeline. Once upon a time, this would've meant crushing playtests and paying artists, but in today's age, agentic AI can handle most of it. We're already over the moon with the cover it's given us—what do you think? We'll run the Kickstarter for Defy the Raccoons as soon as we wrap the one for Raccoon Sky Pirates: Total Chaos Edition, which is cruising toward launching this spring. Keep your eyes peeled for more exciting announcements from Hectic Electron Games! Our new slogan: "Home of Wildly Divergent Brands Crammed Together on a Bus and Forced to Make Friends When It Breaks Down." ChatGPT suggested it, what do you think? We'll workshop it. Best, P.S. The other game, Queer Sky Pirates, is so similar to the faster scenes in Castle in the Sky that we have to work out some licensing issues with Studio Ghibli first. We've got our best AI on it. P.P.S. The only way this will become a reality is if we get Raccoon Sky Pirates: Total Chaos Edition out of the way first! Sign up here to be notified when it launches! |
🌈🚀 Reliable wonder engine. I make narrative role-playing games that imagine a weirder, queerer, more connected world.
Hi Reader, Welcome! Please, come in. After some whipsaw weather, spring has gotten determined here. Nothing's blooming in the garden yet, but five years ago, M rescued an orchid from a gutter, and now it's blooming for the first time. So I've put it on the table. I'm still thinking about everything I saw at GAMA Expo. So much waste. It's amazing what sells. It's discouraging how few ideas are in most of it. But it's a privilege to be in this business. I'm so glad I get to make fun things for...
Hi Reader, Welcome! Please, come in. I'll put the kettle on ... you're an hour early, aren't you? No? It's me? I'm an hour behind? I'm still tripping over the time change. Last week, I went to GAMA Expo, the business con for tabletop games. I got to show off the advance copies of Defy the Gods and collect pre-orders. I also got to tell people a new version of Raccoon Sky Pirates is coming! I drove down with Faye of Goblin Door Games, a Horizons Fellows this year who I've mentioned before. Her...
Hi Reader, Welcome! Please, come in, have a seat. The snow is finally starting to melt around here. On the table, we have a tin of shortbread cookies, and in the kitchen, your choice of tea, coffee or hot cocoa. So hey, a few weeks ago I got a little preachy about promises and contracts. Although I wasn’t talking mainly about Jay Dragon, I did imply she'd done some things, or failed to, based on conclusions I drew from the Rascal article I mentioned. I was too hasty. The Rascal piece was more...
