so a raccoon got ahold of the Necronomicon

Hi Reader,

Imagine it's after dark on the eve of All Hallows. Your car broke down, and now you're tramping through the woods in search of shelter. Ice-cold rain soaks through your too-summery clothes and into your bones.

A sudden shock: Lightning outlines a looming manor house. Deafening thunder—or is it the manse's baleful façade?—roots you to the spot.

Brambles choke its walls. Mazy gables top narrow windows from which fell figures stare out.

And then...like an ill omen...a Chevy Bluebird school bus wrapped in an Octopus carnival ride heaves into view above the roof, and a half-dozen raccoons leap from it to the shingles below.

And you say:

"This will end well."

If you were a raccoon, what would you do with the Necronomicon? A monkey's paw? A possessed doll, a mirror with a demon trapped inside, or a puzzle box unlocking another dimension?

Answer for yourself when you back Raccoon Sky Pirates on the first day!

I'll send everyone in that esteemed company a gigantic PDF map of a haunted house. It has four floors, a list of cursed Trash, and its own extended Disaster Track.

We plan to launch October 1st. Be sure not to miss it and sign up now!

You're a raccoon, and it's Halloween.

What will you do?

Hi Reader, It's All-Raccoons Eve! Tomorrow at noon Eastern, assuming nothing wacky happens in the meantime, the Raccoon Sky Pirates Kickstarter will launch! I've just finished (whew) the free Haunted House Map that goes to everyone who backs in the first 24 hours. I hope you'll be one of them! Here's a low-res screenshot from the first floor. There's a second floor, an attic and of course a basement. It has its own Disaster Track and over a hundred cursed items to steal! If you haven't...

orange, yellow and violet jewelweed flowers accelerating toward each other in an atom pattern

Hi Reader, Particle accelerator, but make it flowers. Please come in. Have some ice-cold fizzy water. Yesterday, I went to Yellow Springs, Ohio. From their creek, I brought back messy stalks of orange jewelweed. They're floating in a ceramic bowl of cool water on the table. Little gems. Lyla McBeath Fujiwara is brilliant. I recently read her Substack post about playtesting tactics. Lyla has worked at the mind-boggling scale of the Cosmere RPG. She generously shares that experience, with...

Black-and-white drawing that says Raccoon Sky Pirates Classic Edition, a YOLO tabletop RPG for 3 to 6 players

Hi Reader, Welcome! Please, come in. Have some fizzy water. I brought back a tall hollyhock stalk from Sweden and put it in a glass carafe on the table. Don't mind the stray leptons shooting around. The particle accelerator in the basement has lost focus again. I'd tune it, but the leptons show the hollyhock in such a nice light. This past weekend was Gen Con! And I wasn’t there! Instead, I went to the town of Visby, on the island of Gotland in Sweden, to see two dear friends get married....
