fulfillment rodeo

Hi Reader,

Welcome back. Please, come in, sit down. We have a little brisket left over from Rosh Hashanah if you want some. It's really good.

Red Raccoon Radio, the podcast for Red Raccoon Games in Bloomington, Illinois, just dropped a new episode, and I’m in it! You can catch it here. We talk about Raccoon Sky Pirates—a natural fit for them!—and my next game, Defy the Gods.

Hear me in the hot seat, answering "Why should people be excited to hear from you?" Stick around for our discussion of how unconditionally our hobby embraces us, how wonderful that is, and how, unfortunately, it has a dark side when people hold on too tightly. (Looking at you, MTG Commander harassers.) Something I'd like to talk more about in the future. But the podcast is on the interwebs now.

In more tangible news, my friend Ros came through for me and assembled all the remaining boxes of Raccoon Sky Pirates. This isn't Ros's first fulfillment rodeo—they've worked in warehouses. As soon as they sat down (at this very table!), they sized up my process and systematized it. I shoulda brought them in years ago. Thanks, Ros!

You may have caught the words "all the remaining boxes." I’ve run out of dice, which means I’m out of complete games. I’ll get a few more dice in January, but until then—

I have just 46 raccoon games left for the holidays.

Indie Press Revolution still has a few hundred raccoons running around their shelves. But Raccoon Sky Pirates is currently their #1 top-selling game, so ... they’re going fast.

Basically: If this would be the perfect gift for someone you know, order it soon. Even in January, I'll have just a few more box sets before Raccoon Sky Pirates sells out forever.

Cheers,
Chris

P.S. I have many more than 46 panicking raccoon pins. Treat yourself or get one for a friend!

P.P.S. Happy New Year to all who celebrate!

P.P.P.S. Happy International Raccoon Appreciation Day to all who celebrate!

Hi Reader, Welcome! Please, come in, have a seat. The snow is finally starting to melt around here. On the table, we have a tin of shortbread cookies, and in the kitchen, your choice of tea, coffee or hot cocoa. So hey, a few weeks ago I got a little preachy about promises and contracts. Although I wasn’t talking mainly about Jay Dragon, I did imply she'd done some things, or failed to, based on conclusions I drew from the Rascal article I mentioned. I was too hasty. The Rascal piece was more...

Hi Reader, Welcome! Please, come in. On the table, I have a bowl of kiwis—the indie game designer of fruits. They're hard to peel, but I swear it’s worth it. (If you’re into OSR, just beast it and bite right through the fuzzy skin.) I know this talented up-and-coming game designer named Faye Weaver. Faye is a Horizons Fellow this year, like I was last year. And she’s been getting frustrated about, well, the crickets. I think everyone who puts a game out there feels this way sometimes, so I...

Hi Reader, Welcome! Please, come in, out of that snow. My it's cold out there—winter is biting down. But it's cozy in here. Have some hot cocoa. I made it with warm milk this time. Did you read the Rascal article about Yazeba's Bed & Breakfast? It's the kind of cautionary tale that keeps me up at night. If you don't have a Rascal subscription, do get one. But for now, here's my best sum-up: Possum Creek Games, led by Jay Dragon, made some big promises to the writers and artists who helped...
